This was our first time having dinner here to celebrate a birthday with my family. Overall, the experience was just so-so. The food portion was pathetically small for five of us. The price for the portion was pricey and not worth it.
The dishes were good.
The dining area was spacious.
Service was really bad, from the manager to the waitress.
Well, if the manager is rude, what can we expect from the waitress?
Here's the edited review:
It’s a hidden gem that I only just discovered, even though it has been open for almost two years (since the COVID-19 pandemic). It's actually a sister restaurant to its main restaurant in Bedok. It’s family-friendly, mostly featuring round table settings. It's easily good for 6-12 pax. This place can get very crowded, so arrive early to avoid disappointment. It’s very spacious, has a nice ambiance, and is comfortable for dining. It’s a Teochew restaurant, so be sure to try their signature dishes. Chilled Teochew Pork Trotter Jelly, Homemade Teochew Prawn Ball, and Teochew Kway Teow are some of the must-try items. There is currently a promotion for an extra value set available for weekday dinners only, which truly offers great value for money. You can choose from fish/prawn, chicken/duck/meat, and veg/tofu/omelette, along with rice, soup, and tea/water. All the dishes tasted great, and the portions were decent for four adults. Especially the coffee pork ribs; they were tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Kway Teow also had excellent 'wok hey'. The only disappointment we experienced was not receiving our oyster omelette (蠔煎) order during our 45-minute dining time (6:45 pm - 7:30 pm). We're not sure if they missed our order, but they claimed it was still in the order queue even after we finished our entire extra value set. We simply had to give up, disappointed. You can't expect a customer to wait for an oyster omelette for another 30 minutes when they've already finished their dinner. Perhaps they simply couldn't cope with the orders and didn't mind losing one or two customers, as they would still sell the dish to a later customer (likely with a shorter wait time). That resulted in a 2-star rating for service. Hopefully, I can try it on my next visit (with a more reasonable waiting time).

First time here. I must say it's pretty spacious (not cramped and not noisy), and the food is pretty good.
I love the coffee spare ribs; you could smell it the moment the aluminum foil unfolds. Simply one of the best I've ever had.
The orh nee dessert is also worth mentioning. It looks very different from what I usually get out there, and I feel it's really smooth and not gelat.
The oyster omelette is pretty good, with plump, juicy oysters. I think the flavour is pretty good. (Pricing for the oyster omelette is on the high side, in my opinion.) Do note it's available on weekdays only, but we tried our luck, and they made it upon our request.
The cai po fried kway teow is a simple yet flavourful dish. It also had good wok hei.
The wait staff were attentive and friendly. I will go back again to try the other dishes.
Second visit: January 7, 2023
Time: 11:45 AM
Pre-CNY lunch
The food was good all around: prawn roll (hay zhou), 大菜 (stewed mustard), roast chicken, deep-fried soon hock fish, stir-fried asparagus, 炒菜谱粿条, lo hei, and yam paste dessert.
First visit:
One of the undiscovered Teochew restaurant gems in the North.
Very good dim sum and other dishes.
It's also a tea shop where you can order tea and have a nice chat.
We went for lunch and were assigned a table right by the door near a walkway. We requested a change since there were many empty tables around, but the server simply said, “Cannot change.” This was our first time there, and it will definitely be the last. Food was average, and the service was poor.
Amazing dim sum place that's a hidden gem in the North. Specialising in Teochew dishes, they also serve a fabulous dim sum brunch on weekends! The dim sum menu is a bit small, but all the classics are available and good. The har gow, siew mai, and XO fried carrot cake are especially tasty. For an additional treat, call in advance to pre-order their oyster omelette (which is usually only available on weekdays) to complete the meal. Attentive and efficient service staff rounds off a delightful dining experience each time we visit. Highly recommended!
Good Teochew cuisine, and their food is tasty and well-seasoned. It's a great place for company or family reunions. Staff are friendly; however, an aftertaste leaves you feeling thirsty, so I guess that's why it's so yummy.
I had made a reservation for three people for 1 pm, but somehow when we were there, they didn't have a smaller table available and gave us a big round table which I think was suited for 6-8 people. We ordered their famous Oyster Pancake, Roasted Chicken, Beancurd with Shimeji mushroom and Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Prawn Ball and Teochew Kway Teow. Except for the Beancurd dish, which was nothing to shout about, the others were pretty good. The sweet and sour pork, to me, is one of the best I've had – crispy on the outside.
Service staff were okay, but as we were non-Chinese, the waiter kept talking to us in Chinese until another staff member who spoke English came to our help. Special mention to the staff member, Peggy, who was not only pleasant and helpful but gave us impeccable service. One thing to note is that the restaurant charges a $2 per person cover charge for tea, water, and a packet of wet wipes. I think they should do away with this, be flexible, and only charge a nominal fee for water if the customer doesn't want the wet wipes and tea, like many other restaurants.
We went for a family dinner. The staff was attentive; when she saw me using a spoon to cut the meat, she (Peggy) brought a knife and fork. Also, other small thoughtful touches gave us a good impression of the service. The food was delicious.
