Walked out, forgetting to take my receipt and bonus stamp receipt. I walked back in to retrieve it. No other customers were at the checkout I used earlier, but a staff member had walked away from it and was putting a receipt in the waste paper basket. I “dug” it out (there were only two other receipts in the barely used basket). The staff member said I was lucky she hadn't torn it up.
The issue wasn’t whether it was torn or not; the issue was, where was the bonus stamp receipt that was taken from the bottom of the purchase receipt?
Another experience over the past year:
I was queuing for the checkout counter, with one other person ahead of me. It was 10:28 PM, but seven of the eight checkout counters were already closed. As I was approaching the last one after the previous person was done, the staff member said it was already closed and told me to go to the cashier counter, which had a queue building up. They always closed the self-checkout counters at 10:30 PM, and by that time, only one cashier counter was still open. Of course, I just put the item back and walked off, as it wasn’t the first time I had a bad experience there.
Two other experiences involved being told the NETS machine was already closed at the cashier counter, and another time, that my card wasn't working, although I use it every day and had used it at the same NTUC the day before. Another staff member nearby nodded, indicating it wasn’t working. It was working, by the way, and I know how a POS and NETS machine work. All three previous experiences regarding the POS/NETS being closed were with the same staff member, and it was all around 10:30 PM. What coincidences!
There was also a time when I was looking at the HALAL poultry section and found that there was pork meat placed there. I was there around 10:40 PM at the time, and most of the chilled product lights were switched off or had blinds covering them. This just showed how the staff members switch the lights off and rolled the blinds down without checking.
Of course, there were times when I had a good experience; when I left a bag of groceries behind and was walking back, a staff member actually went out with my bag to pass it to me at the escalator.
The staff at the self-checkout counter is unfriendly, unhelpful, and unreasonable. They refused to assist me and wouldn't let me go to a cashier. They need to understand that not every customer is familiar with how the self-checkout system works.
I encountered a staff member named Indrani on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 7:30 PM. She was very unfriendly and appeared displeased when we approached the self-checkout counter for payment. The machine stopped midway, requiring assistance. When I approached her, she came reluctantly to tap the screen to proceed. I asked if I should weigh the apples, but she didn't reply or acknowledge me, simply walking away and returning with the price sticker, which she handed to me with a sour expression. We don't want this kind of attitude. This was my first time encountering such a rude NTUC staff member!
**Red Bean Black Tea Latte ($5.90)**
In short, this drink is exactly as its name suggests. There was a large and generous amount of red bean with strong black tea and a hint of milk. Red bean and azuki lovers would absolutely love this. However, we felt that the components were very separate and individual.
**Signature Egg Pancake Set (2 pieces for $2.60) and Taro Egg Pancake Set (2 pieces for $3)**
Slightly crispy on the outside and delightfully fluffy and soft, the Yi Fang Pancakes come in the shape of mini bubble teas. The batter was very fragrant and had a strong egg flavor. The taro filling was generous and had a prominent taro flavor. This would be lovely as an afternoon tea snack, paired with Yi Fang’s teas.

Tried their new pancakes! They're super cute and adorable, and made to order in sets of two. The taro filling was minimal, and I couldn't taste much of a difference. Get the original instead. They're really, really sweet though, so it's best to have them with a strong tea!
Surprisingly, its floor area is quite spacious and has a row of "unique" seating for "drinking" in. Otherwise, I think the tea is quite normal, the same as many other bubble tea places. Given the only two choices in this area – Koi at the MRT side and this one at the mall – there aren't many other options.
Prices are a bit high and seem to have increased again, as the website shows different (lower) prices. Maybe they forgot to update the website, or they simply increased them.
"So many items were out of stock (see photo). I attempted to use a Shopee voucher for winter melon, but I was told to return after March 25th or switch to a lower-value item. Since it was too inconvenient to return, I decided to take the lower-value item. I won't be buying another voucher from this chain again."
The drinks weren't good. I was expectant and looking forward to them, however, the passion fruit green tea didn't taste like tea, nor did the tea latte, which was supposed to be strong and have double the flavor.
Friendly staff, especially the person taking the order. The milk tea is nice, and the pearls/bubbles are chewy. If you like strong tea, you can order their double tea latte.
I like their cute bubble tea egg pancake. It comes in original and taro-flavored egg pancakes, and is only available at the Canberra outlet. The pancake is soft and fluffy. The taro filling isn't too sweet. I hope they come out with new flavors, like cheese and chocolate 😋.
I also tried their monthly drink (June edition), the Yakult Kiwi Green Tea, which was refreshing and nice.
