It's been a long time since I've had A&W, and it's been years since it returned to Singapore. The taste is still great, and it brings a nostalgic feeling for me, as I grew up in the 80s and 90s. The branch at Canberra Plaza is large, with self-service kiosks. The serving and return of trays are on opposite sides of the branch, which I think is a very good move for hygiene. Price-wise, it's fair, and I highly recommend their chicken and beef burgers; they're definitely better than the usual M brand. P.S. Did you know A&W was actually the first American fast-food brand in Singapore, established way back in the 60s?
"The root beer is so nice. The burger is good. The food and drink are collected at two separate counters. You have to pick up your food opposite the shop. To get your drink, you give the receipt to the counter staff inside the shop."
The Cream Cheese Beef Burger ๐ was delicious ๐คค. The beef patty was juicy and tender with a generous amount of cream cheese and lots of caramelized onions. ๐ง
My order was served less than 5 minutes after I placed it via the kiosk. I was very impressed with their speed.
However, none of the staff smiled when I interacted with them; they were all expressionless. It doesn't cost anything to smile at customers when serving them.
The staff was very rude and unfriendly. They mumbled so much that I couldn't hear what they were saying. When I asked them to repeat themselves, they gave me a rude look. The picture-taking skills were awful; the pictures were ugly and dark. They insisted it would take 30 minutes to collect them, even though the pictures didn't need that much editing, given how bad they were. I will not be returning.
Do not take passport or ID photographs here at the Canberra Plaza outlet. The images are terrible, and the lighting setup is a joke. It was a total waste of $16. Seriously, just donโt.
Unpleasant experience at Northpoint...
Reasons: I bought a photo frame for $18, but it was dirty, and the metal hook was rusty. The lady in charge was not friendly and told me to clean it myself.
When I reached home, I cleaned it and discovered the hook was still rusty. I then made a trip to Canberra to discuss the issue with Ms. Belle at Northpoint. She ultimately exchanged the photo frame without any issue.
Many thanks to her for helping.
"Too bad I only remembered to read reviews after going there. The passport photo taking and editing 'skills' are almost non-existent. And they charged $21, too ๐๐ The editing was unnatural, and staff claimed they didnโt have the original photo, even though the photo was taken the day before. Okay, what can I say? Repeat: avoid at all costs unless you can live with a terribly edited photo, or have spare cash to retake it somewhere else. Don't bother."
If only I could give it zero stars, I would. The staff didn't even bother to adjust the lighting in the photo before printing (we printed an 8R family shot) like other shops do. The picture is so dark and horrible. Please avoid this shop, no matter how desperate you are!
